Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1294 of Lexington was able to assist a veteran Thursday, December 22nd, in a touching moment that defines the spirit of giving.  Wayne Snelling, with Tennessee Homeless Solutions, had a car donated with the desire that it go to a U.S. veteran.  Jim Cooper, with VFW Post #1294, said that they were contacted and were able to find a veteran who had a license, but was in need of a vehicle. 

   

 

Demolition began late Wednesday evening, December 21, on the old Holcomb-Porter building, which occupies the corner of Wilson Street and Natchez Trace Drive.  Tennessee Data Assessment Records indicate that the building was erected around 1930, and was for many years the site of the Holcomb-Porter warehouse and distribution center. Years later it was acquired by Decaturville Sportwear, and employed several in the garment industry.
