Jeff Griggs, Mayor

Mayor Griggs is a lifelong resident of Henderson County. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1978 and was employed in the family grocery business from 1974 until 2007. Currently, Mayor Griggs has served on numerous community and civic boards and most recently completed his service as the Chairman of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission.

Mayor Griggs served three terms beginning in 2009 as Alderman.  He served chairs with the Budget Committee, Economic Development Committee and the Lexington Electric Board, Police Committee, Fire Committee, and Joint Economic Development Board and Planning Commission.  Mayor Griggs was elected as Vice Mayor in 2011 where he continued unitl elected as Mayor in 2017.

Mayor Griggs has a wife, Paige, and two daughters, Mandy Melton and Misty Sharp. He has one son, Dallas; two grandsons, River and Canyon; one step-grandson, Sam and a step-granddaughter, Toni.

Alderman Johnson was born and raised in Lexington.  He received his education from Lexington City School, Lexington High School and Jackson State Community College.  Alderman Johnson is a veteran of the United States Air Force. 

Alderman Johnson was first elected to the Board of Aldermen in October 2011.  He currently serves on the Street/Waste Collection Committee, Parks/Recreation Committee and Economic Development Committee, and as Chairman of the Fire Committee.  He was also elected Mayor of Lexington in October of 2005 serving until October 2007.  

Alderman Johnson and his wife Lisa, formerly Lisa Jordan, reside at 230 White Street.

Alderman Rhodes was born in Lexington TN and has spent all of his life here with the exception of 10 years during childhood. He graduated Union City High School and returned home the following year.

 He has served 5 years on the Carl Perkins Prevention of Child Abuse Center board and has been a small business owner since 2000. 

 

He serves as Chairman of the Lexington Gas System Board, Chairman of the Tourism Committee, and serves on the Police Department, Fire Department and Airport committees. 

 

Alderman Rhodes and his wife Mary Ann have been married since 1986. They are the parents of two children and 3 grandchildren.

Alderman Wood is a lifelong resident of Lexington, Henderson County.  She is a 1983 graduate of Lexington High School and attended Jackson State Community College.  Alderman Wood is an 18 year Administrative Assistant with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture where she was selected as 2009 Forestry Employee of the Year.

Involved in community service, Alderman Wood is an active member of the Altruistic Club, having served as President, and currently serving as Vice-President.   She is involved in many areas of community service, and is a member of the Henderson County Benefit Committee.  She decided to expand her service to the community by seeking the office of Alderman, and was elected to serve in September 2009.   Re-elected in 2011, she currently serves as Chairman for the Civic Center/Museum Committee and is a member of the Recycling and Tourism Committees.  Alderman Wood is the former Chairman of the Fire Committee and past member of the Police Committee.

Alderman Wood and her husband Jeff have one son, Brandon.

Alderman Blankenship is a resident of Lexington, Henderson County.  He is a 1977 graduate of Lexington High School and attended The University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  He returned to Lexington in 1983 to manage Dyer Auto Parts then became the owner and operator of Lexington Auto Parts and Paint.  Currently Alderman Blankenship is the owner of Blankenship Heating and Cooling.  With this background, Alderman Blankenship understands the importance of operating the City of Lexington like a successful business. 

First elected to the Board of Alderman in 2007, he served until 2013.  In October of 2014, Mr. Blankenship was appointed by the Aldermen to fill a Board vacancy.  As Chairman of the Water Department in 2009, Lexington was selected as the Julian R. Flemming Water Treatment Plant of the Year.  He currently serves as Chairman of the Police Committee and is a member of the Park, Museum/Civic Center and Airport/HR Committees.   

Alderman Blankenship and his wife Kerry have been activity members of First Baptist Church for over thirty years where he serves as the Sunday School Director.  They are the parents of four children, Kristina, Bethney, Mark and Matthew.

Alderman Gilbert has lived in Lexington her entire life.  She is a graduate of Lexington High School and attended West Tennessee Business College.  She began her career as a special education tech and assistant director of Easter Seal of West Tennessee.  Later she accepted a position with West Tennessee Healthcare where she retired in 2009.  She was an active member of the Altruistic Club for over 20 years serving as president for three terms and being selected “Altruistic Woman of The Year” four times.  She has been a member of the Henderson County Fair Board for numerous years and currently serves as President/Director.

Alderman Gilbert became a member of the Board in 2005 and was re-elected in 2007, 2009 and 2013.  Currently she serves as chairman of the Tourism and Airport/HR Committees and is a member of the Museum/Civic Center and Recycling Committees.  Alderman Gilbert is also the appointed city member to the Henderson County Library Board.

Alderman Gilbert and her husband Tommy are the parents of Eddie, Kim (Peters) and Doug.  They also have a very special daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Melissa Gilbert and Trent Peters.

Alderman Wildridge is in his first term on the Board of Aldermen being elected in 2011.  He is a member of the Police, Fire, Budget, and Economic Development Committees and serves as Chairman for the Street/WC Committee and Lexington Water Board.

Alderman Casselberry was born and raised in Lexington.  He attended Lexington City School, graduated from Lexington High School and obtained a B. S. Degree in Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin.  He was hired by the Henderson County Board of Education and taught school for 32 years.

After retirement, he was elected to the Board of Alderman for the City of Lexington in 2007 and was re-elected in 2009 and 2011.  During his first term, he completed both Level 1 and Level 2 of the Elected Officials Academy certified by the Tennessee Municipal League and the University of Tennessee.

Alderman Casselberry currently serves on the Street/Waste Committee and the Budget Committee; and, as Chairman of the Lexington Gas System Board, Parks/Recreation Committee, Recycling Committee and Safety Committee.  He also served as Vice Mayor during his second term on the Board.

Alderman Casselberry and his wife Betty have a son and a daughter, both college educated, who now work in Lexington and have made it their home.
