The mission of the City of Lexington Building and Planning Department is to work with private and corporate citizens to ensure that all site plans, subdivision plats and building construction conform to the adopted codes and ordinances that will provide quality structures and functional developments.

The Building and Planning Department is responsible for the enforcement of the Building Codes, Zoning Ordinance, Flood Ordinance, Sign Ordinance, Site Plan Ordinance, Subdivision Regulations and other associated codes.
