Mission

The City of Lexington Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated and committed to making our Parks the “BEST THEY CAN BE!” Safe, clean and well maintained - we will always uphold that standard.

Services

Parks and recreational activities are an essential component of a community’s quality of life.  The body and mind need a break from the daily grind.  Participation in recreational activities supplies this break and develops physical, mental, and social health.

Fire Department Badge LogoTeam activities and sports participation not only promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyles but present a supportive environment where social skills like teamwork and cooperation are developed.  Other activities of a more easygoing nature offer many of the same benefits but may be obtained through a brisk walk or time spent in peaceful reflection on a quiet park bench.  Social benefits of recreational activity have also been linked to increased community health and reduced crime.

The Lexington Parks and Recreation Department is comprised of facilities for both active and passive recreational activities for all ages, interests and levels of ability.  The Department strives to preserve, maintain and improve the City’s parks in order to provide the best amenities possible while preserving the integrity of our budget.

Our goal is to provide a diverse and quality system of parks that enhances the environment and enriches the character of the community.
